ICEBERG SLIM

Iceberg Slim, born Olusegun Olowokere in New York City to Nigerian parents, is an emerging Nigerian superstar. Introduced to the sounds of Sunny Ade, Shina Peters, and Obesere from a very young age, Iceberg Slim found a strong liking for music. By the age of 9, he was playing the drums in his church, and by the age of 12 he had taught himself how to play the keyboard. Iceberg Slim started writing his own music by the time he had reached High School. It started as poetry, and served as an outlet, but then transformed into Rap. Influences like Jay-Z, Drag-On, DMX and Eminem helped shape his sound and style. With such a love for music, there's no question on why he decided to leave John Jay College of Criminal Justice after 2 years completed, to attend IAR (Institute of Audio Research) to then pursue a career as an audio engineer/producer. Iceberg Slim, now a talented rapper/singer/producer and Audio Engineer devised his blueprint and decided to enter the Nigerian music scene, from abroad. After releasing several tracks to introduce himself to the world, in 2009 Iceberg Slim won "Best International Artist" at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, which was held in Washington, DC. After receiving the new title as "Mr. International" from his fans, he quickly recorded and released the track titled "Mr. International". This song was said to be his introduction to Nigerians in Nigeria, because of its alleged controversial lines towards M.I. (Mr. Incredible). The alleged beef then got hotter as both artists decided to record songs replying eachother. Iceberg Slim released "Am I Better" as M.I. released "Somebody Wants to Die". Even though both artists claim there is no real "beef", just friendly competition, it definitely gained Iceberg Slim a lot of attention in Nigeria. With this publicity, he then decided to relocate to Nigeria in December 2009. Weeks after his arrival, it was said that he was now a signed artist under the money machine "Yes Records". The first single he released under "Yes Records" was titled "I Made It", which featured the late DaGrin. Iceberg Slim has worked with many artists/producers, both inside and out of Nigeria. He has tracks with the likes of international rapper/singer Ja Rule, Sauce Kid, Da Grin, Banky W., eLDee and the list goes on. During the latter end of 2010, speculation arose that Iceberg Slim and "Yes Records" mutually parted ways. As he works towards his highly anticipated debut album, "New York to Lagos", Iceberg Slim has been hitting stages across the globe. From the UK to the US, from Canada to Nigeria. Iceberg has just released a brand new smashing single, titled "Champagne Showers". This uptempo energetic track which features his elder brother, Rico White, also displays the singing ability of Iceberg Slim. Now signed to international Record label, G-Worldwide Entertainment, Iceberg is ready to give the competition a run for their money.
