L.A.C.E (The Man On The Block)

L.A.C.E. (an acronym for Lyrical Ability Controls Everything) is a Nigerian Rapper hailing from the eastern state of Anambra.

Real name Leslie Ezeoke, he started out his music career in the "Coal City", Enugu, which has been the launch pad for several big Nigerian stars such as TuFace, Flavor, WizBoyy, Mr Raw, and Obiwon.

He made his name in the Coal City underground for his witty wordplay and stage presence, culminating in him winning 'Best Solo Artist' for 2 consecutive years (2003 and 2004) in the Fanta Talent Shows held in the state, and he became one of the biggest local acts, which was an unprecedented feat for a hip hop "purist".

His first single, "Gini ki cho" was released under his independent Fly Fellow Records label in 2007, upon his graduation, to critical but not commercial success. Despite being a major hit in his 'home' Enugu state, it did not spread across to the commercial capital of the country, Lagos. This he blamed on his inexperience in the business side of "show business."

He also made his debut directorial role in the accompanying animated music Video which he directed and animated.
He is also a producer, with production credits on his and other local acts' albums.

In no small part due to the unprofitability of his debut single, he returned to his job as a Medical Doctor full time.

However, he is returning to the music scene with his new single "on the block", a radio friendly song with a saccharine hook (voiced by Vanessa Morris, an artist on his label) which depicts his struggle to become nigerian hip hop royalty.

With lyrics like "...all the big names here don't bother me, cos I've seen the game and there ain't none as hot as me..." He is obviously one confident MC.
